After a rainy evening the boaters
took off to some heavy fog and drizzle in the morning. Another factor that the
roughly 120 teams were battling was the decrease in water temperatures over
the past week and a half. The water had reportedly dropped by almost 15
degrees over that time. As would be expected, about 75% of the field ran up to
pool 13 to fish, even though they could fish any waters as long as they
returned by the three PM weigh in. There was a total of 22 limits brought in
today out of the roughly 120 boats.
This tournament was a team event
that allowed the teams to bring in 5 bass per team, but there was also a
larger multi-boat tally as well. The team sponsored by Team Supreme won the
overall team event and donated their winnings to the Children’s
Therapy
Center
.
The
individual boat standings were as follows
:
First Place went to Jeff Herburger and Mike Feldermann.
These two, like most, went up to pool 13 to locate their bass. These two were
on the team Supreme team and had 5 bass for 15.56 pounds. They had a big bass
of 4.14 pounds. Nice job guys.
Second Place went to Nikki Eickert and Shawn Eickert. This team also reportedly
traveled to pool 13. This team was part of the Gateway Bass Club. They had 5
bass weighing in at 14.38 pounds and had a kicker fish at 4.13 pounds.
Congrats.
Third Place went to Tim Pettit and Tom Boynton, also fishing for Team Supreme. They
had five fish weighing in at 14.21 pounds with a kicker weighing in at 3.18. I
was also told they were fishing grass up on 13.
Big Bass for the day weighed in at 4.77 pounds and was caught by Matthew and
Steve Lane
, who were fishing on pool 13. Way to go guys.
All in
all it was a tough day of fishing as stated by the anglers. 10.22 pounds put
you in the top 20 out of over 120 boats. As I talked to many of them, they all
said that they didn’t have a lot of bites, so you had to make them count.
They also said that many of the bite you got, were not very aggressive.
Overall, this looked like a very well run event, which will be back next year.
See you then.
