Darron Callow TAKES THE WIN!
Pool 12, July 16, 2006, by Ken Warren

The conditions today were very hot and only made tolerable by the mild wind that blew throughout most of the day. It can be seen by the results that fishing was hot as well even if the big fish were hard to find. About 70% of the field of boaters brought in a 5 fish limit.

1st Place Boater
Darron Callow from Calona, IL

Darron Callow from Calona, IL topped the boater category with a limit weighing 13lbs 14oz. Darrin fished the lower end of Pool 12 and caught his keepers on buzzbaits and Berkley Gulp worms.

Second place went to Scott Ford of Geneseo, IL with 13lbs 9oz. Scott also fished the lower end of Pool 12 but caught his fish in the slop with scum frogs and a Zoom horny toad.

Grand Mound, IA angler Chip Hesse rounded out the top three in the boater category with 11lbs 13oz. He also ran to the lower end of the pool to catch his fish.

Ron Helling from West Burlington, IA caught the big bass of the tournament with his 4lbs 8oz lunker, which fell for a Zoom brush hawg.

1st Place Co-Angler
Gary Michalski from Naperville, IL

Gary Michalski from Naperville, IL claimed first place for the non-boater category with a combined weight of 21lbs 8oz. His sack also contained the big bass weighing 3lbs 11oz. Gary’s fish were caught with Berkley Gulp, a frog, and flipping tubes.

Tom Schultz from Galesburg and his partner brought in a combined total of 21lbs 1oz, which gave Tom the second place prize.

Third place, with a combined weight of 18lbs 3oz went to Shawn Lochner of Marion, IA.
