The conditions today were very hot and only made tolerable by the
mild wind that blew throughout most of the day. It can be seen by
the results that fishing was hot as well even if the big fish were
hard to find. About 70% of the field of boaters brought in a 5
fish limit.

1st Place Boater Darron Callow from Calona, IL
Darron Callow from Calona, IL topped the boater category with a
limit weighing 13lbs 14oz. Darrin fished the lower end of Pool 12
and caught his keepers on buzzbaits and Berkley Gulp worms.
Second place went to Scott Ford of Geneseo, IL with 13lbs 9oz.
Scott also fished the lower end of Pool 12 but caught his fish in
the slop with scum frogs and a Zoom horny toad.
Grand Mound, IA angler Chip Hesse rounded out the top three in the
boater category with 11lbs 13oz. He also ran to the lower end of
the pool to catch his fish.
Ron Helling from West Burlington, IA caught the big bass of the
tournament with his 4lbs 8oz lunker, which fell for a Zoom brush
hawg.

1st Place Co-Angler Gary
Michalski from Naperville, IL
Gary Michalski from Naperville, IL claimed first place for the
non-boater category with a combined weight of 21lbs 8oz. His sack
also contained the big bass weighing 3lbs 11oz. Gary’s fish were
caught with Berkley Gulp, a frog, and flipping tubes.
Tom Schultz from Galesburg and his partner brought in a combined
total of 21lbs 1oz, which gave Tom the second place prize.
Third place, with a combined weight of 18lbs 3oz went to Shawn
Lochner of Marion, IA.
