The day began cold
but warmed throughout the day into the 60's. The water temp was
cooler in the morning as well but the sun warmed it by 5 degrees
into the low 60's by midday. The fish by all reports were not found
in their usual spots and those that realized that early and adapted
did well.
First Place was
claimed by the district director, Ryan Christoffer with 5 bass
weighing 12.23lbs. The winning sack came from south of the
launch all caught on a finesse jig.
The runner-up spot
was taken by Elliot Wamsley of Lanark, IL with 4 bass that weighed
10.50lbs. All of Elliot's fish were caught south of Spruce Creek on
a jig.
Third Place went to
Mike Giardini with 7.65lbs. Mike caught his fish in the 9-mile
island area on a white and chartruese spinnerbait worked
along the rocks. He is sponsored by Yo-Zuri, Strike King, Mercury
and Cobra Boats.
Big Bass honors went
to Jesse Fortney with a 3.76lb largemouth. This lunker was caught on
a homemade jig that was swum along a rip-rap bank on Pool 13.
