On a day dominated by poor weather conditions, 71 teams took to the waters of Lake Wisconsin with hopes of bringing in the heaviest six bass limit and cashing a check for $2000 in the Madison BASS Club’s 11th Annual Spring Fling Bass Tournament presented by Stark Auto of Sun Praire, Wisconsin.

Local knowledge of the river system proved helpful for eventual champions Dan and Marty Sickenberger. The duo brought in a six fish limit of small mouths from the river that weighed in at 20.5 pounds and was anchored by their 4.22 pound kicker. They received $2000 for their efforts.

Second place went to the team from Dorn Outdoor Pro Shops, Jason, Burnham and Tyler Nelson. Their six fish limit, of smallies weighed in at 19.08 pounds and were also caught up river. Jason and Tyler took home a check for $1000, not bad for a day on the water.

Kevin Fassbind and Brady Farrell used their extensive knowledge of the system to bring in 3 large mouths and three small mouths for a total weight of 17.63 pounds and third place. The duo also received a check from the Madison BASS Club for $600 for their catch.

Two other teams also placed in the money today by chasing after large mouths. Matt Mezera and Joe Shaw brought in six large mouths for 17 pounds and a $400 check. Madison BASS members Jon Feller and Jay Cukla also had six largies for 16.12 pounds and 5th place, for a $300 check.

Big bass of the day went 19” and tipped the scales at 5.15 pounds. The large mouth was caught by Gary Jarosinski and he won $510 for the fish. Brady Farrell and Kevin Fassbind had the second big bass of the day with a small mouth that went 4.65 pounds and won $200.

All in all, 71 teams brought in 156 large mouths and 71 small mouth bass.

The Madison BASS Club would like to thank “Beck’s on the Water” for hosting the event.
