bIG BASS BONANZA

Todd Bissett & Dean Nalezny win TOC!
Lobster Lake, September 10, 2006, Shaun Haag

Conditions:
Wind SE 15-20
Temp high 59
Water Temp 69-71

1st Place
Todd Bissett & Dean Nalezny

The team of Todd Bissett & Dean Nalezny go back to back and win the Tournament of Champions. They also finished the year with a win on the Clearwater Chain that put them in the fifth place spot for team of the year. Big Bass Bonanza takes the top ten teams for the Tournament of Champions. Dean said they divided up the lake to pre fish one guy shallow one deep. After the first day they new the bite would be shallow. They spent the rest of pre fishing narrowing down their pattern. With below normal temps the morning of the tournament the bite had gotten really tough, but it didn't take long for Todd & Dean to find out the cold temps moved the fish even more shallow. They used a new jig from Leena Lures with a bleeding red hook to catch their eight fish limit weighing just over 22 lbs. They had two key areas that produced most of the fish. They work them real slow to get the bites.

2nd Place Rob Ronnig & Randy Voyles

The team of Rob Ronnig & Randy Voyles put together a solid eight fish limit over 19 lbs for second place. They also found fish shallow keying on pencil reeds and cattail edges. Rob & Randy tied for the 2nd place Team of the Year. They are always a force to be reckoned with on the Big Bass Bonanza tournament trail. They also received a cash bonus for running a Skeeter Yamaha from Stub's Marine.

3rd Place Tony Osborn & Rob Barrett

The power hose team of Tony Osborn & Rob Barrett put together eight fish just over 18 lbs to tie down the third place price plus the Stub's cash bonus for running a Skeeter Yamaha. They used jigs to work docks and some lily pads to get most of their fish. They felt the high number of Muskies in the lake kept the bass up shalow. They finished the year tied for 2nd in the Team of the year race.

4th Place Mike Heinen & Shaun Haag

The Team of the Year Mike Heinen & Shaun Haag rounded out the top four. Mike had located some nice fish using a deep weed line in practice, but after a couple hours and one fish we new the fish had moved up. We spent the rest of the tournament keying on pencil reed points and turns. Using Shaggy Jigs tipped with Calcutta 's Salty Craws and loud Woodies Rattles we put together eight fish that went 18.2 lbs. Good enough for the fourth place check & a cash bonus from Stub's Marine.
