Air Temperature: 68 Degrees
Water Temperature: Upper 50’s
Water Clarity: Stained to Clear
Skies: Sunny with a 5-15 mph wind from the West
Two
days following a cold front, the blue bird skies continued as the
water temperatures continued to rebound from the previous cold
weather. The small mouths are in spawning mode and were the major
players in the tournament. The large mouths are starting to have
the males fanning out beds and the females will be showing up
soon. The water levels are stable and created good fishing on the
river for those able to go up. All of the top five teams brought
in sacks of small mouths over 17 pounds. Only 10 teams weighed in
a full six fish limit on Sunday.

First Place Larry
Hildebrant and Russ Cable
The
team of Larry Hildebrant and Russ Cable ran up river to claim the
first place check for the tournament. They ended up with six
smallies for a total weight of 22.53. The duo ran up the river and
located spawning small mouths in the shallows. The team was
throwing plastics to catch their fish. Larry and Russ would like
to thank their sponsors, Mike’s Prop Shop and Quam’s Motor
Sports for their support. Congratulations on the win Larry and
Russ.

Second place and Big
Bass Guy Thistle and Brandon Clemons
The
Second place team, who also had big bass of the day was Guy
Thistle and Brandon Clemons, who are both from the Lodi, Wisconsin
area. They finished with 22.4 pounds today with six smallies. Guy
and Brandon were also fishing spawning smallies in shallow water
on the river with tubes and spinner baits. The team also had big
bass for the day with a monster 4.92 pound small mouth, great job
guys.
Finishing
in third today was Don Bakken of Sun Prairie and Tim Willihnganz
of Pardiville, Wisconsin. Don and Tim also took the trip up the
river to locate their smallies in shallow water and caught their
fish on tubes. They finished with a weight of 20.89 pounds, which
was good enough for the third place check. Don and Tim would like
to thank their sponsor, which was the Poynette, Wisconsin Subway,
located just of off the interstate highway. Good job guys on the
finish.

and Brandon Clemons with a 4.92 pound small mouth caught on the
river.
