On this day 22 boats ventured out into the heat and humidity to
chase after bass in the first annual Lake Wisconsin Lunkers Bass
Tournament. These fisherman have seen the water temperatures climb
11 degrees in the last week and many had been talking about how it
was affecting the fishing, and as it turns out, there where some
interesting things that resulted in the first place team catching
all large mouth bass, the first time I can remember this happening
in many years.

The
team of Mark Fry, from
Rockford
,
IL
, and Dave Walden used a variety of baits ranging from jigs to
scum frogs to catch their limit of 6 large mouths. They stayed on
the lake all day and fished shallow to catch a 15.35 pound bag of
fish that earned them $650. Nice job on your win guys.
Second
place went to the tandem of Willihnganz and Bakken. They ran up
the river to locate their fish. They used mostly plastics and were
fishing in 1-5 feet of water. They had 4 small mouths and two
large mouths to make up their bag today for a weight of 14.5
pounds. For their efforts, they earned $500.
Third
place went to Bill Spahn and Chad Theis of Poynette and Deforest
respectively. These two went up the river and worked plastics in
1-5 feet of water. They had 5 small mouths and 1 large mouth that
weighed 14.45 pounds. For their efforts, they earned $300. They
would like to thank Subway of Poynette and TNT Lawncare for their
support.
Lake
Wisconsin Lunkers would like to thank the following sponsors for
their support: Beck’s on the Water, West-Land Restoration, Inc.,
Earth and Road, Midway Oil, Autoworks Plus, Direct Sign and
Supply, Orbert Signs and Home Services. They would also like to
invite you to next year’s event, which will also be held the
Saturday of Father’s Day weekend.
