Duggan and Willinhganz Win Bayview Bassmasters Open!
Lake Wisconsin, June 2, 2007, by Darin Roddick-Small

Air Temperature: 75 degrees
Water Temperature: 71.4 degrees
Water Clarity: Stained
Skies: Thunderstorms and cloudy
Winds: S/SE at 0-5

On a day dominated by the weather, 29 boaters went out into the heavy rains and cool temperatures to chase after a first place prize of $1000. The fisherman left the docks to skies threatening to start their days and the skies did not disappoint. It rained from about 7:45 until 11:45 and it drizzled most of the remaining time. With that being said many people still managed to get a solid pattern on the post spawn bass. There was also a cut off point at the I 39 bridge in Portage .

1st Place

Josh Duggan and Tim Willinhganz came to the weigh in today with a 7 fish bag of smallies today and were rewarded with a first place prize of $1000 dollars. A 4 pound 10 ounce small mouth that also won the big bass of the day, for an additional $250, anchored the duos bag. These two went up the river to pattern smallies in 5-10 foot of water and used plastics to catch there fish. They finished with 20.33 pounds for the day. Duggan comes from Lodi and Willinhganz is from Pardeville.

Dan and Marty Sickenberger, of Poynette and Deforest respectively, also ran the river to catch their fish today. They were rewarded with a bag of fish that went 18.1 pounds. To catch their fish today, these two were focusing on water 5-10 feet deep and used mostly spinnerbaits and plastics to catch their fish. They ended up catching all smallies to cash their check for $600.

3rd Place

Rounding out the top three were Bert West, of Okee, Wisconsin and Chuck Pohlenan, of Sauk City . These two fished the lake to catch 17.21 pounds of large mouths that earned them a check for $500. These two were fishing plastics in 5-10 feet of water to catch their fish. They would like to thank their sponsors, Gander Mountain , Flambeau, and Westland Restoration for their support.

I would like to take this time to thank Bayview Bassmasters for putting on this event and to thank their sponsors, Beck’s on the Water, Windsor Roofing and Construction LLC, Mike’s Prop Shop, Dorn Hardware and Insty Prints.
