Team Mazanet Marine Wins Thursday’s
Child Event
Lake Wisconsin, August 5th, 2006: by Darin Roddick-Small
Air
Temperature: 84 degrees
Water Temperature: low 80’s
Water Clarity: Normal
Water Level: Low, rising
Skies: Mostly sunny with a 5-10 winds form the N/NE
The cooler weather this weekend made for much more enjoyable fishing
conditions for this charity event. We also saw some heavier rains move
through the northern regions of the state that will help increase the
flows on the river. This along with the abundance of shad in the system
made for some fun fishing for this event and many were able to
capitalize on this to bring in full bags of fish. That being said, it
made for an enjoyable charity fishing event for all involved, while also
helping out some very needy children.

The
favorites coming into this event was the team from Mazanet’s Marine.
They were comprised of many of the anglers that spend time at the top of
the leader boards here on Lake Wisconsin. On this five man team was Tim
Willihganz and Josh Dugan, Jason Burnham and Tyler Nelson, Guy Thistle
and Brandon Glen, Jim Peterson and Chris James, as well as Bill Spahn
and Chris Theis. Many of these anglers ran the upper reaches of the
Wisconsin River to target small mouths for their win. This team finished
with a combined weight of 66.67 pounds for team. Congratulations
gentlemen.

Coming in
with just about seven pounds less than them were the team from the Bank
of Poynete. This team had a total weight of right around 59 pounds for a
solid second place showing. They had boats running the river and
focusing in the lake. This team was comprised of Chuck Pohlman and Bert
West, Derek Hoffman and Chris Trumen, George Urban and Sean Schell,
Corey Pigorsch and Joe Maraszek, as well as Matt Cumming and Matt Hohl.
Nice job guys.

Rounding
out the top three was the team from Kilgust Mechanical with a weight of
55.17 pounds for their team. They also had boats running both the lake
and river to find their fish. This team was made up by; Scott Hinz and
Dave Buttman, Robert Anderson and Barry Bresee, Nick Limpel and Brian
Efinger, Mark Schwanbeck and Dutch Ladwig, as well as Bill Skinner an
Dan Gabhard. Well-done guys.
In closing
this was a great event for everybody and all had fun. Most people stayed
around to enjoy some brats and burgers and a few beverages. One thing is
for sure, many fish stories were told as people waited for the final
standing to be announced and plaques awarded. I would like to take this
time to thank Bayview Bassmasters for holding this event, Beck’s on the
water for hosting it, and all of the companies and teams that made
donations to the Thursday’s Child for this tournament. Thanks again and
I hope to see you again next year.
Tight
Lines and God Bless,
