HOOKSETS FOR VETS

7/26/08

Big Marine Lake

Conditions: Calm winds, 80-85 degrees, water temp 80 degrees.

32 teams took to Big Marine Lake in search of the biggest 5 bass limit. By most reports the fishing proved to be tough with the hot temps and little to no wind. As with any tournament there teams that will find them and catch them. The deep weeds proved to be the best pattern of the day.

Kevin Fuehrer and Dwight Spitzer in their first time fishing this event found fish in weed clumps in 14-16ft of water. They dissected these areas with jig worms and jig and pigs to put together the biggest bag of the day. 14.42lbs anchored by a 4.52lb largemouth put Kevin and Dwight over the top.

Second place went to Travis Pederson and Tim Olson. They also pick apart deep clumps of Coon Tail with jig worms. They gave credit to their Setyr Rods lined with Power Pro line and Mustad hooks for not missing a bite all day. Travis and Tim’s 5 best went 14.42lbs.

Third Place team Jason Dudek and Paul Schwinghammer reported fishing weed in 11-12ft of water with Texas Rigged Culprit worms and Gama Fluorocarbon line.

Rounding out the top four teams was Deitz Dittrich and Raymond Esboldt. Ray and Deitz took a little different approach to the deep weed clumps. The used a drop shot rig to catch well over 30 fish to cull their way up into the fouth place spot.
