The
team of Jeff Bosshardt and Brad Cline took first place in the
Fishers of Men Minnesota East on May 20, 2006 for the 3rd time in
four years. The tournament was on
Balsam Lake in Balsam Lake , WI. Their 15.58 lbs. of
largemouth bass was was tops in a field of 63 boats. The team also
rounded out their day by catching a 5.22 lunker to take the Big Bass
award.
“The
fish were mainly spawn and prespawn and very tough to catch”, said
Bosshardt. “We only caught 6-7 keepers all day and the lake was
crowded. There were 3-4 boats around and shore fishermen when we
caught the big one later in the day. Sometimes you would spot a fish
and as soon as your bait hit the water it would take off about 100
mph. The fish seemed to just be moving up for the spawn. The water
is really clear on this lake and the fish can see you a long ways
away. A couple of our bigger fish came on the wood and stumps and
had not yet spawned. Tubes and creature baits Stamina Quality
Components and MG Lures were what worked best.” said Bosshardt.
2nd place went to last seasons MN East points champions Amiot and Amiot
with 14.43lbs. This
team is always strong anywhere within 45 minutes of Frankie’s
Marine in Chisago.
3rd place went to Bob Allen and Chris Hullback with 11.91 lbs.
This team was one of the teams that went to the Nationals in
Florida. They have really grown together into a tough team and a
team to watch.
4th place went to Mark Schutz and Aaron Cavanaugh with 11.82 lbs.
Aaron is the new MN East Chaplin.
The
Friday pre-tournament meeting was at Frankie’s Marine in Chisago
our Triton boats dealer in our area in MN. Dinner was grilled hamburgers and all the fixings with beans
and vegetables. Yum.
