RAMSEY AND WILLIHNGANZ TAKE THE WIN
Lake Wisconsin, April 23, 2006, by Darin Roddick-Small

Air Temperature: 68 Degrees
Water Temperature: Upper 50’s
Water Clarity: Lake 2-3 feet, River less than a foot
Skies: Partly Cloudy with a 10-15 mph wind from the N/NW

The stable weather conditions over the past week have put the fish in a predictable pattern right now. The fish are in a strong late pre-spawn pattern with many of the males cruising the shallows. There are a few of the females moving closer to the shallows as well.  With steadily rising water temps and stable water levels, the fishing was good for many. Unfortunately many of the anglers found difficulty in locating the keeper sized fish in the lake.

1st place unavailable for photo

One of the few to unlock the secrets of the lake and river were one of the local favorites Randy Ramsey and Tim Willihnganz, who caught 19.56 pounds of bass, 5 small mouths and 1 large mouth, for a first place finish that came with a check for $1,296. Their biggest fish of the day was a bass that went 4.22 pounds. (Not available for interview)

2nd Place
Scott Hinz and Nick Limpel

Finishing is second place, with a bag of six large mouths at a weight of 17.3 pounds were Scott Hinz of Baraboo, Wisconsin, and Nick Limpel of Lodi, Wisconsin.  Nick and Scott were throwing spinner baits and smoke tubes on the lake. Their biggest bass of the day was a large mouth that went 3.18 pounds. They were also guarded with a more specific pattern due to the upcoming tournaments. For their efforts today, they were rewarded with a check for $777.

3rd Place and Big Bass
Rollie Thruehl and Jeff Krisher

In third place, with another bag of six large mouths at a weight of 15.7 pounds, were Rollie Thruehl of Deforest, Wisconsin and Jeff Krisher of Token Creek, Wisconsin. Jeff also caught the big bass of the day with a large mouth that went 4.38 pounds. They were fishing jigs in very shallow water on the lake. They would like to thank their sponsors, Angler’s Edge and Next Level Tackle for their support. For the day, they earned $350 for third and $210 for big bass on the day. Congratulations to all that fished today.

Angler’s Edge would like to thank all that fished today and hope to see you again at Prairie Du Chein on  May 7th. I would also like to thank their sponsors for making the tournament possible. Sponsors include, Falcon Rods, Next Level Tackle and Finley GMC.
