Glenn Walker’s Tournament Journal
2008 Season

July 19, BFL, Wabasha, Minnesota

July 19-Tournament:  After a month and a half break the BFL Great Lakes division resumed and had its third stop of the 2008 season on the Mississippi River in Wabasha, Minnesota.  Anglers were able to fish pools 3 through 5.  The WI State Federation tournament was also being held on the same waters, so there was not a shortage of fiberglass rigs on the river this weekend.

I was fortunate to be paired with the division point’s leader Josh Duggan, so I went into the day with a good feeling.  At 8:00 things took an interesting turn when his lower unit began to go out.  This forced us into fishing a limited section of water and we were not able to move very fast.  We fished all forms of cover and threw “the kitchen sink” at them.

I ended up weighing in four bass for a whopping 6 lb. 15 oz.  A Brovarney swim jig, Chug Bug, Carolina-rig and football jig is what I used.  The highlight of the day was definitely hooking a rod of mine and casting it into the river.  It was just one of those days, but all in all I’m glad Josh and I made it back to the weigh in with our fish.  Josh is still leading the boater division and moved up to 23rd in points.  I was proud of how I stayed committed and determined to get my fish as my fourth fish came at 1:00.

I again want to thank Josh for a learning filled day on the water.  I’m looking forward to the next stop which is in three weeks on August 9 on my home water in Prairie Du Chien!

Good Fishin!!
