Glenn Walker’s Tournament Journal
2008 Season

August 17, Grant County 4-Man Open, Prairie Du Chien

August 7-8 – Practice: I was able to fish for several hours each day starting on Thursday, so I was able to cover a lot of water and get a good idea of what the bass were doing. Going into the tournament my brother and I were going to try and get some bass that were schooled on a point right away and then make a run to a large area that had a lot of bass in it. I knew sorting through short fish was going to be a problem, but with the two other tournaments going on I thought a solid limit would be good enough for a check.

August 17-Tournament: With a grand total of three tournaments being held out of Prairie Du Chien, I knew the bite and things would be interested. The bite for my brother and I started off very slow. Many of the areas we had, either had small fish there or no fish at all.
Fishing a variety of points and wood with a Carolina-rigged Gambler Baby Bacon Rind, rigged on an Eagle 3/0 wide gap hook was my go to lure, catching all but one of my keepers. The bites I got were solid bites, but I had to barely move my rig along the bottom. I also fished my areas several times, to make sure I casted at every angle and piece of cover available.
Our other boat went up to pool 9 and between the two boats, we had are 12 fish limit for 24.6 lb. Looking back I wish I would’ve been able to locate some good slop and pad areas, because I think this fish held up under the pressure better.

Good Fishin!!
