Please take a moment and read through the information below, it will provide some insight into whom we are and why we choose to belong to The Green Bay Bassmasters and The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. 

What is the Green Bay Bassmasters?  We are a local B.A.S.S. chapter club that is an affiliate of the Wisconsin B.A.S.S. Federation Nation. The WBFN is a state wide non-profit organization with over 300 members in all parts of the state. The WBFN is also an affiliated state belonging to a much larger national organization, The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society.  As a B.A.S.S. member we are committed to stimulate public awareness of bass fishing, promote clean water, initiate and promote fact based common sense legislation to protect and strengthen our fisheries, to call public and political attention to polluters, and to pass on the love of our sport and appreciation of the great outdoors to youth in our area.

What type of people belong to the Green Bay Bassmasters?  Our club is diverse but includes some very experienced anglers. Most of the members fish many open tournaments around the state throughout the open water period. We also are proud to have a number of people that fish or have fished at various professional level events throughout the country. Some members prefer to fish largemouth bass and some prefer smallmouth. Everyone is eager to learn as much as possible and improve his or her skills.

Where’s the fun?  There is lots of fun to be had and some stiff competition to boot. We start with a number of point-tournaments within our club.  From these we determine our top fishermen to advance to a state or zone tournament.  If they finish in the top 50% in points they earn an opportunity to fish at the next level as well as the admiration of the other club members.  This process continues on a regional level until six anglers from the federation get to compete in the BASSMASTERS Classic.  The classic is the Super Bowl of bass fishing and is said to be worth $1.5 million dollars if an angler wins.

Will you learn anything?  You will learn many different techniques for both Largemouth and smallmouth bass that you can use the rest of your life.  You will learn how to locate bass in seasonal conditions and catch them in water from 6 inches to 50 feet deep.  In time you will be joining the 10% of anglers that catch 90% of the bass.  In short, we are a group of men that share a love for the outdoors and bass fishing. We also enjoy the competition, and are focused on having fun, protecting our rights and passing on the love of the sport.
